Abstract
Most Christian educators would agree that ‘all truth is God’s truth.’ As we, in Christian higher education, continue to assist learners in their transformative journey, we cannot help but acknowledge that both social sciences and the Bible speak to the subject of how people transform. Therefore, we must engage in integrating the nuggets from both fields as educationists. Such integration enables our efforts to be more holistic and effective. This paper discusses the integration of one social science concept, perspective transformation, and one theological concept, wisdom. The paper has three main segments. The first part presents a definition of and a brief review of key claims about perspective transformation from a social science understanding. Next, I describe wisdom and some pertinent claims about wisdom as informed by theology. Reference is made to important claims drawn from outcomes of an in-depth exegetical study of the passage in 1 Corinthians 2:6-16. Lastly, the relationship between the two concepts is discussed based on the points of congruence, as well as divergence, between the two fields. A synthesized statement of a proposed position of a Christian view of perspective transformation concludes the paper.
